Spud goes for a walk!

spud3

I’m pretty crazy about Spud and Chloe yarns, especially Sweater. And I adore knitted toys. So when we got Susan B. Anderson’s Spud and Chloe At The Farm, I may have squealed a little.

Liz decided right away to knit up Spud, the namesake sheep of the yarn line. He’s made with one skein each of three colors of Sweater: Toast, Ice Cream, and Firecracker. (You will not use a full skein of Toast or Firecracker, so you will have plenty for another project–or you can use scraps for Spud!)

sweaterforspudSpud is definitely an intermediate project. His fleece is made with a special twisted stitch, which is not hard but definitely requires concentration and maybe a little practice to get the hang of it. And he is made in pieces, which means sewing him together at the end, as well as embroidering on his little face. But as you can see, it is well worth it!

If you want to make Spud but need a little help, you’re in luck! Susan is hosting a knitalong on the Spud Says! blog. They got started about a week ago but it should be easy to jump in. And of course if you get stuck, you can bring him into the store and we will try to get you back on track.

Happy Knitting!
