Annika Barranti, aka NoirKnits, lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. She was born and raised in New York City and the Catskills, and has lived in Pittsburgh, rural Ohio, and Chicago. The weather on the west coast suits her best.
Annika has been crafty most of her life, growing up with a fiber artist mother and photographer/musician father, but did not pick up knitting until adulthood. She improvised several patterns for her son when he was born, and started designing professionally around the time her daughter was born. She mainly designs for babies and children, but is branching out into adult accessories and hopes to one day design another adult sweater.

In addition to designing, Annika teaches knitting at Knit Culture Studio and is a writer.
Her most popular design is Leapfrog, simple cabled pants for babies and children. Leapfrog was published in Petite Purls, a free online knitting magazine exclusively for children’s patterns, where Annika has also published two other designs.
Leapfrog is pictured at left, modeled by Annika’s daughter, Grace.
Her most recent design is Dag & Dagmar, a brother-sister sweater pattern with two different neckline options. Knitted from the bottom up in garter stitch, Dag & Dagmar is pictured at right modeled by Annika’s son, Sam.
We are thrilled to be debuting three patterns from the Annika: Posy in Lorna’s Laces Honor, Rogue in Blue Sky Alpacas Techno, and Mountain Man in Mountain Colors Twizzle. Look for them in our booth at Vogue Knitting Live!
