Heather Dixon, aka Army of Knitters, grew up in Attenborough, Nottingham, England, which is known for its Nature Preserve. She now resides in a converted barn in the Catskills in upstate New York with her fella and their Pit Bull, Lucky, who turns 12 this year but is a puppy at heart.
Heather’s earliest designs were featured in Stitch ‘n Bitch Nation, Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet, Knitty, and Not Your Mama’s Knitting. She then went on to found the Army of Knitters line.
Her most popular Army of Knitters pattern on Ravelry is Erquy, a top based on the silhouettes of vintage swimsuits. The idea came to Heather in the night, and she was so inspired she got out of bed to sketch the design! Erquy is pictured at left.
She most recently released Iona, a stunning dress that pairs with Fyne, legwarmers that she knitted for the Iona photoshoot and wrote up the pattern only after seeing how well they went together. (Through the end of September, the patterns are available together for a savings of $3 on Ravelry!) The set is pictured at right.
We are thrilled to be debuting two patterns from the Army of Knitters Winter collection, both knitted in Knit Collage’s wonderful, unique yarns; one in Gypsy Garden and one in Stargazer Sequin and Silk. Look for them in our booth at Vogue Knitting Live!
