Donna Higgins, aka Heirloom Stitches, is a lifelong crafter who learned to knit from a fellow mom seven years ago. She opened an LYS, In The Making in Birmingham, Alabama, and began designing patterns when her customers were looking for pattern support (this was pre-Ravelry).
Donna designs heirloom pieces with her two children in mind. Her first patterns were socks, and she quickly branched out to children’s sweaters, blankets, and more.
Her most popular pattern is Nellie, a girls’ cardigan with a lacy yoke. Nellie is pictured at left.
Donna’s most recent pattern is Snow Buddies, a striped hat and mitten set with a matching cowl. The hat from the Snow Buddies set is pictured at right.
We are thrilled to be debuting Donna’s next pattern, Baby Babar, in Spud and Chloe Sweater. Look for it in our booth at Vogue Knitting Live!
